Job Title: Journeyman Service Technician
Reports To: Shop Foreman
FLSA Status: Non- exempt
Compensation: $ per bi-weekly pay period
SUMMARY: Working in a high volume shop performing bumper to bumper diagnostics, service, repair, adjustments, and testing of buses and heavy duty trucks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Diesel engine - Repair, diagnostic, rebuilding and general repair including Cummins, Caterpillar, Mercedes.
- Heavy duty brakes - Complete understanding of air brake systems, including repair and rebuild of system.
- Electrical diagnosis - Must have extensive electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities, understanding of multiplexing is a plus
- Air Conditioning - general understanding of air conditioning installation, trouble shooting and repair is a plus
- Transmission- Allison diagnostic and minor repair
- Ford-GM medium duty diesel engine diagnostic and repair
- Heavy duty suspension air and spring suspension trouble shooting and repair
- Heavy duty alignment theory and repair techniques

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - 1 year experience with hydraulics
- 1 year experience in automotive electrical and lighting systems
- Must be self starter
- Must have own hand tools
- CDL a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write technical, effective business communication to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, clients, and/or regulators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply financial mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
