Job Description
Job Title: Back Parts Counter-Person
Department: Parts - Service
Reports To: Service Manager
SUMMARY
Provide knowledgeable, timely, and friendly service and guidance to internal and external customers for stock and non-stock parts distributed by the branch.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Adhere to company policies and procedure.
- Research orders to assist technicians, managers, and as needed front counter.
- Serve as back-up to Front Counter Sales (ie assist with customers, answer phones, etc)
- Establish working relationships with all departments and branches of the company.
- Suggest product changes, additions, and stocking levels.
- Continuously strive to improve the department and the company.
- Help out on the parts counter or phone room when volume dictates.
- Offer assistance to other departments when needed.
- Review open order report and keep it under control.
- Make sure all non-stocking parts are returned to the vendor and all refunds and credits are applied for and processed in a timely fashion.
- Handle internal & external customer problems in a friendly and professional manner.
- Work closely with the warehouse and purchasing managers to resolve daily issues.
- Always keep a clean and professional appearance.
- Be a team player and a leader by example, and do not settle for mediocrity.
- Maintain stock levels on showroom displays. Keep the displays neat and orderly.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Attend counter meetings and training sessions.
- Report improper behavior.
- Take responsibility for your actions.
- Respect other employees.
- Come to work on time every day.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct reports, but successful candidate must be able to work constructively in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 2 yrs experience in related parts
- Good customer skills
- Self motivation
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Light duty trailer parts(axles.brakes,hitches)
- Atmv /trk lighting
- Karmak (preferred) or other computerized parts management system experience
- Front/back counter sales experience
- Emergency lighting experience
- Bus parts experience

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Candidate must exhibit strong ability in communication, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Position requires technical knowledge in one or more of the DESIRABLE SKILLS areas mentioned above.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write accurately in English. Fluent knowledge of one or more of the DESIREABLE SKILLS areas above. Spanish fluency is desirable but not required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to accurately count, calculate mark-ups and margins, add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with fractions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
