OUR SERVICES
Diagnostic - Check engine light, emissions failures, tune ups, filters (air, cabin and fuel).
A/C Repair - Water Pumps, thermostats, radiators, hoses, engine head replacement, total engine replacement. We understand A/C systems and are qualified at diagnosing the problem - no guess work! At Auto Safety House, many different A/C systems come through our service doors. Sometimes they are blowing hot - usually a freon leak. In this case, we extract air through the system, determine remaining amounts, and detect leaks. On the electrical side, solving the problem often depends on which system is installed. Our electrical diagnosis includes a check of wiring, fans, condensers, and gages. Sometimes they operate but only intermittently. High pressure cut outs and irregular pressure can cause condenser fans to cut out. School buses and conversion vans come through our doors often, so please don't hesitate to visit us with any repair needs. We are an MCC Authorized Dealer, so we service warranty work for them. We do work on new systems, as well as repair and replace components or circuitry.
Unlike the automotive world (which has uniform systems), in the bus world all A/C systems are different, and the final set-up often depends on who installed it. So there is a significant amount of detective work that has to take place to diagnose a particular problem. One day its a van with completely different systems. Sometimes it depends on budget constraints at the time of purchase. We see it all! Sometimes it's one big compressor, or two smaller ones, or one central system, or different evaporators, condensers and compressors. Even two entirely different A/C systems in one. In the bus world, there are lots of aftermarket parts. This is a different set of standards. It often depends on how the bus was ordered.
Many of our customers have their own in-house techs, so we often see things that other technicians have not been able to fix. We have lots of experience with these kinds of automotive forensics. Occasionally, we must start over, bring the unit back to factory specification, then trouble shoot from there. There may be additional modules that could be the cause of the problem. In some cases, the items that were installed are the cause of the problem!
Suspension - Rack and pinion, alignment, tie rods, shocks, struts, gearboxes, and bearings.
Brakes - Pads, rotors, calipers, master cylinders, brake boosters, brake lines. We repair and diagnose brake issues of all kinds. Usually brake pads are low when customers visit us, but occasionally there are greater issues. Many of our customers have their own in-house mechanics, but at times, our safety inspections catch brake problems that previous technicians may have missed. We have the parts to fix those issues and we install all the parts we sell. We can repair vehicles that are under warranty. We perform brake inspections, check thicknesses on pads and shoes, and check rotor and drum thicknesses for irregular wear that can lead to stress cracks and will eventually need to be replaced. We check air pressure consistency, inspect fluid level and condition, check throws and strokes on brake chambers, check chambers and valves for air leaks when the brakes are applied and unapplied, and we can remove and replace every component in a braking system due to wear or malfunction. Our certified technicians work on hydraulic as well as air brakes.
ASH can perform your brake work regardless of what you drive. Keep in mind, brakes need to be checked often for deficiencies as brakes that do not operate at full strength decrease stopping ability. Not all brake service centers are the same, so don’t get stuck paying for things you don’t need. If your brakes are making noise, you need to have them inspected.
